Developed in collaboration with FCC arquitectura, this bespoke lamp was designed for the entrance hall of Hotel Pico Vineyards, on Pico Island in the Azores.
The brief was to create a large-scale piece that would become the focal point of the hotel's entrance and help define its identity. The answer came through an expressive design, where the material's natural qualities and the sculptural character of the piece take centre stage.
Made from thin sheets of wood, the lamp explores the material's natural translucency, allowing light to filter through its different layers. Arranged in a spontaneous, organic composition, the wooden sheets create a sense of fluid movement, evoking the waves of the sea surrounding the island.
More than a source of light, the piece creates a connection with the Azorean landscape, bringing a subtle reference to nature and the character of the place into the interior.
